Recording and Composition
I’ve been involved with music for the last 15 years as a guitar player, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, performer, studio musician and recording engineer. I have production, performance and songwriting credits on a number of projects for a diverse roster of bands and solo artists. Original music that I’ve written and produced has been used in a variety of media, including video games, independent movies and television shows such as MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge and Bravo’s Queer Eye For The Straight Guy.
Writing
I’m the author of two books on digital recording and music software:
Mastering Digital Audio Production (Sybex), published April 2007
Covers the entire range of music software available for Apple computers, with individual chapters on the major Digital Audio Workstations, plug-in effects, virtual instruments, creating and using loops and more. Includes sections on IK Multimedia’s SampleTank, AmpliTube and T-Racks software.
Introducing Reason 4 (Sybex), published April 2008
Introducing Reason 4 is a beginner-to-intermediate level look at Propellerhead Reason 4 virtual studio software. Along with writing the text and organizing the book’s content I also created a series of example files using the Reason program’s included instruments and effects, which can be found on the book’s companion CD.
Software
I have extensive and current experience with Pro Tools HD and LE, Propellerhead Reason, Logic Studio and Ableton Live, as well as virtual instruments and plug-in effects from IK Multimedia, Native Instruments, McDSP and others.
